Jupiter is the ruler of Gods and planets and is popularly known as Guru Brihaspati. He is the Lord of Light and is related to enlightenment. It is the light that is symbolised with yellow rays and is associated with the DevguruBrihaspati. It is believed that Jupiter spread light and positivity all around itself. Brihaspati is the most benevolent and sacred of all Planets. It is connected with growth, prosperity and fortune and thus is associated with Yellow colour.
Yellow, the Preferred ColourBrihaspati is Brahmin by birth and is four armed. He sits on a lotus and wears a yellow cloth. His chariot is drawn by eight yellow horses. He is very fond of yellow sweets. His favourite colour is yellow and so Yellow Sapphire or Pukhrajis his preferred gemstone. The preferred metals of the planet Jupiter are also yellow coloured metals like copper and gold. Pitambar or yellow colour is what Lord Vishnu wears and he is the presiding deity of Planet Jupiter. This is why; it is always advised to wear yellow on Thursday, which is the day of Lord Brihaspati.
Use of Yellow for Brihaspati PujaJupiter determines the nature of an individual along with their optimism level, but sometimes because of the wrong position of Jupiter in the horoscope, you need to pacify the Lord. He is the protector and guardian of all and so every one of us should worship him. To worship him, you should wear yellow clothes after taking bath. One must offer yellow flower, yellow fruit and yellow sweets to Lord Vishnu. Even donating gold, turmeric, yellow gems, honey, yellow clothes to Brahmans and gurus is considered to be auspicious and brings luck and prosperity. Even feeding yellow bananas and yellow sweets to animals like cow and birds pacifies the wrath of Brihaspati.
So wear yellow and offer everything in yellow to get the blessings of Lord Jupiter.
