Vrat (or fast) observed on Brihaspati Vaar (Thursday) is devoted to Brihaspati Dev (the Planet Jupiter). Devotee preferably weas yellow clothes and use yellow sandalwood in the pooja. Food is taken only once on the Vrat day. It includes yellow grams like yellow split Moong Daal without skin, or yellow Chanaa Daal without skin.
Pooja Materials Needed for Brihaspati Vrat Vidhi:
Brihaspati Puja & Fast is followed on Thursday (i.e. Brihaspati vaar). The yantra used for this pooja is called as on Brihaspati yantra. It should be worshipped in a temple before it is worshipped at home. You need a calm and peaceful place to perform Brihaspati Puja. Face towards east direction while praying. Place a yantra on a copper plate besides the deity.
“Aum Hreem Kleem Hoom Brihaspataye Namah” is the divine mantra that is chanted during Brihaspati Puja. Chant this mantra 108 times every day and you must complete 19000 times over some time. Place dry sweets on a dish while chanting this mantra. Close your eyes and pray for what to you want. Don’t think about anything else besides from praying for whatever you want.
You may observe Brihaspati Vrat as many times as you wish. Usually devotees observe this Vrat for 7, 11, 21, 40, 48, 51, or 108 days or for life time.
